Thought id start this....as ive been offline for a littewhile and while didnt want to post up a thread for just that thought this might be an easier way...
Weather was shitty a month ago...went on hols for 2 weeks, back to work, but had an intern from france from work staying with us so ive been in the car all week, which spells no bike for me for a month (longest time off of bikes that i can remember). So, today was a relief to say the least.
Its been a couple of years since ive changed to plugs so nipped down to Fowlers to get a set so, they'll be going in either tomorrow afternoon or next week....i went down on my Hyper and as i pulled out of my road on the duc a lad went past on a z1000r...anyone on here (this is Bristol) by the way...feel free to add to this thread with anything and everything...not even kwak related...

Well, theres a bit more to the plug change....
Had my first senior moment yesterday....was 50 on thursday, not been out on the bikes for a month or so....
Went down to the local Shell garage and thought...ill put the good stuff in...so proceeded to fill up with V-Power.....diesel....(first time ive ever done it) - started the bike - coughed a bit (realized what i had done) and called the wife. She picked me up, brought me back with a hose, a few canisters etc etc...drained the tank their, put the "right" vpower in....took a few goes to get it started and it did....left the garage, went for a run up the motorway to check it all (was all ok) but, this afternoon i changed the plugs and cleaned out the Throttle Bodies.....starts on the button...
While i was away i was thinking "i should really change the plugs soon - its been a couple of years...." that kinda accelerated the decision as it were...
Bit of an admission considering the company but....we all do stupid things...im no different to anyone else!!

Yeah - no damage...as i say i thought before i went away i was going to change the plugs....i noticed a month or so back it was taking a second or so to fire....now theyre done its instant....so in answer to your question, when it starts to not fire instantly - thats the time to change them.....

Yeah - thats what i felt like but, its got marginally lazier on the startup....yeah - a pain getting to the plugs but it was worth it....on the motorway im getting 50 to 55....hard to say otherwise as im blatting around town....interestingly on saturday after i got it started i went up a stretch of the local motorway and then round the dual carriageways to get home (giving it a good stretch of the legs) and came across a last gen blade sp.....off the block trounced him easily but at 4th he started to reel me in and pass me (about 115 ish) - (this is pre plug change mind you) but, im happy with that as thats what the zed is all about...off the mark low end grunt...what a naked bike should be...

I know 2 people with Yamaha mt09s,1 with a traicer, and another with an mt10 and they all have rust issues. The Mt 10 was 4/5 months old at the time, all rusting on the rear lower shock... The bike shop by told the guy with the traicer to clean it and paint it,even though it was still under warranty.... and that was a Yamaha dealership, where he bought it. Yet when I mentioned it to Fowler's of Bristol, they told me to tell him, take photos of the rust, the mileage, and over all condition. And they will ask Yamaha to sort it. I wouldn't have 1 as a gift... My z1000 2008 was 11 year's old when I sold it and I couldn't see any rust on it,and I went all over that bike....

Yeah.... Ive had stuff recoated on mine but only cos I'm ocd about it.... The only thing on mine that has actually had rust on it in 5 years was the right hand frame spar and even then it was very light surface rust...

Ive read on numerous occassions the MT-10 is pretty thirsty but, for what it gains over a mapped zed theres nothing in it. I think i a true dyno figure is about 150 ish at the wheel (146 for mine)

My mate, saw mine,he had a black z1000 2014 and he couldn't get on with it,then part ex it for a 2018 z1000r. The matt black 1,said he always wanted 1 of the r editions.... That's why I'm making mine look different, not just to his, although I prefer my colour skeem to the matt black. But I like to look at bike to see what someone else has done to there's,not interested in standard zed, although there nice to look at,but I want to see some amaginative bikes...
