I thought the Lextek headers were very well made for not much money at all. I was expecting something which looked much cheaper.

Does anyone know the weight of the Lextek headers. I should have weighed mine before I installed them, but I got ahead of myself.
Just curious on weight savings,as I'm trying to get a few kilos off the Zed.

there must be at least 10 _15 lbs saved and if you wanna save another 5 fit a lithium battery, you will be amazed at the saving, around 5 lbs..it all adds up..

Yes... The exhaust will save u around that, there much lighter than the original pipes,I've got to change the battery still but what's the point of it still works,I'm just tight I guess becouse I will have to change battery and the charger... I've change a hole lot of bolts for titanium ones, even disc bolts. U will be amazed at how much weight u will save there mind.....

The exhaust is probably the biggest opportunity for shedding weight, followed by much smaller items, which perhaps added together may amount to something.
So,
Headers and cans. Done
Battery. (it goes against my grain to bin a perfectly good battery,so I may pass on that one for now)
Wheels. (mega expensive, very nice but hard to justify)
Change stock mirrors to bar end type, plus lose the bar end weights. (get vibes through the bars and mirrors are blurred at high revs) Done.
Lose the stock tail unit and fit a tail tidy. (not a great saving on weight, but looks better) Done.
Dump the stock toolkit. Done.
Bin the rear footrest hangers and fit R&G alloys. (Because of the remote preload adjuster on the R and resiting of the rear brake reservoir, reworking of the R&G would be required.)
Anything else goes down the mega expensive road of titanium fasteners,a lot of cost for marginal gains.
What did I miss?

Titanium bolts only cost a fortune if u go by bike, but if u go by size they cost a lot less than u think,I bought mine a bit at a time, but the waigh of the bag of original bolts I removed is surprising...... And buy grip puppies, there £13 on eBay and with hair spray go on over the original grips.. and a £25 sprocket cover, that makes cleaning front sprocket.....

Are the grip puppies not adding weight, technically? I actually have a set,but didn't fit them,,,yet anyway!

The weight is miniscule, but I enjoy having them I'll put up with the added weight,as I have saved on everything else bar end rizoma mirror's, carbon fiber, titanium bits and the loss off rear indicators, and rizoma mini front ones etc

How do you like the grip puppies? Less hand fatigue?

I've never had a problem with them, cuts vibration, and comfortable, but it's up to the individual,my mate didn't get along with them.... Not for everyone, and my titanium bolts won't corode,no bling,as u wouldn't know they were, like some people like to show off. but they come up like new and I won't have a problem with them years from now...

Have you weighed your bike to see what it tips the scales at now?

Kawasaki lists the Z1000 at 221kgs wet,so I suppose anything less than that is a win.
A current ZX10R comes in at 203kgs and it would be cool to get down there, but dropping 18kgs (40LBS) may be a little optimistic!

Get it mapped and you can loose the flapper valve motor... I know you've got a good battery but a lithium one is a big saving...
