Looks great in red!...what are the pipes? Have you had to put a PCU in to compensate?

The front section are Arrow race headers. The rear are Vance & Hines Brawlers. To be honest....ive not done a thing re fueling yet, not because im neglecting it, but because its such a new bike there are a few options and I want to get it right first time.....dyno time is expensive I really don't want to keep going back. Ive finalised the mods....race headers, tail pipes and K&N. This leaves me a few options...
1. Power commander and generic file upload. The easiest but in no way the best result. 2. Power commander and send off the ecu to the us for Ivan to reflash. A better option but the ecu hasn't been completed by Ivan's yet....its a work in progress. 3. CJS Tuning near Bristol. Chris (CJS) is a ducati specialist and worked wonders with my old hypermotard. He's got a dump of the ecu (as of last month) and is looking through it. Im waiting for the call....if he does give me "the call" it will go in for a day on the dyno and he will do a one time ecu reflash which wont require any other boxes. This is my favourite option but, I have to wait....patiently....
He did say to not worry running it as is for the moment as they tend to run quite rich anyway....so im kinda treading water waiting at the moment...

Ordered some black sidepanels from the 2015 model. As you can see before the old silver panels were there to complement the silver finished stock tailpipes but they were history after the journey home from the lads that i bought it off.....looks miles better with the black.....bugger, cant upload pic from my tablet....will do it later...
There we go, that's better....

I'm fairly sure that I have shared a picture of my Z1000 on here before but for the life of me I cant remember which one..... Here you go, sorry if I have repeated myself!

Not seen yours before but very nice. TBH I think there is a thread of pics somewhere else on here but I thought the front page would be the best place....the more the merrier....mines kind of finished looks wise....well, maybe not quite finished as I may try the single exit collector box and try a single exit pipe (hopefully an AR if I can afford it!)

Full system, k&n, get it on the dyno.....wolf in sheep's clothing. ...mine makes as much as an s1000r now! And after my mods (ie taking loads of stuff of) I think it's lighter now as well....

The black side panels definitely do the business & how loud are the Vance & Hines & did they give you a bit more power? I was thinking about getting some

To be honest you won't get much out of just a pipe without dyno work which I strongly advise. As for noise.... I'd did a few pics on how to pack them out to get them quieter in another post. If youve got stock headers then they won't be loud but if you have race headers then yes, they'll be loud but as I say for me packing them out took the edge off them.
z1000uk.proboards.com/thread/3196/dyno-work-complete
This is on my Gen 4 - you've got a Gen 3 but the dyno work should give you comparable results....if you cant get access to a dyno (and you've got some money to spend) then buy a powercommander and send your ecu over to the states to this bloke....
www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/2010z1000.htm
You give him your exact setup, he flashes the ecu and then you upload the remaining settings to your powercommander to fine tune it. Ivan guarantees the work and if there are any updates to the ecu after you've got yours you send it back over and he reflashes for free.
Im not sure where in the world you are but im in Bristol which is near CJS (who mapped mine) a custom map to your bike is the best way to go.

Thanks for the info, I'm in Trowbridge so only 25/30 miles away from you so I can get to Bristol easy enough, I'll make sure I've got the pipes & air filter before I go for a remap but by the looks of your dyno charts it looks pretty damn impressive

I'd perhaps advise picking up a spare ECU and having that flashed rather than your original.....you never know what can go wrong? F;ashing ROM memory chips has its downside (Do you want your ECU to be an expensive paperweight on your computer desk?) Go Powercommander. Fit for purpose, runs custom maps that can be downloaded online......can be remapped easily and removed when you sell the bike with no harm done if you keep the standard exhaust system and retain the stock airbox and element. A custom flashed ECU will only be good when you're running the mods and selling your bike with the mods doesn't increase the value (Can make it less valuable in most cases). PC's are plug and play so can be fitted and removed with ease. When are they going to bring out a wifi or blutooth powercommander or simply make ECU's wireless and custom remapable? With all this car connectivity going on (Apple and Android), it would be not too complicated to incorporate a similar system to a bike and use a small waterproof touch IPS display instead of clocks for an interface then have a storage drive for music (Using blutooth headphones in your helmet or wireless buds) and other software for mapping the ECU. Also you could sync your mobile smartphone to it and go hands free through the bike's system for alerts and calls.....no texting or reading emails or watching youtube vids though ). That's what's coming in the future.....just you wait and see F

Well, ill disagree (but in the nicest possible way).... Chris at cjs is very professional and guarantees his work.... He hates powercommanders and he says they are inherently restrictive in that more control is gained over the ecu once opened up.... Demonstrated by the work on mine.... The power commander isnt able to control the fuel shut off, remove the o2 sensor or open the secondary injectors earlier in 1st 2nd or 3rd....the power commander can only remap the fuel...
I absolutely guarantee a day on his dyno will yield better results than a powercommander... If you want to see them ive also got the maps from my hyper which were even better...
Id say buy an ecu but keep as a spare.... But thats it... When i got my hyper flashed the second time i kept the 1st modded ecu and sold it on for 250 to a lad that had the same setup.
I would say, phone chris at cjs, tell him youve got a gen 3. Tell him that your thinking of the powercommander route but i guarantee he say just the ecu reflash will get more power/performance...after all most people these days go for a full system and air filter.... As its makes the bike breath..
Once hes done... There'll be no need to mess with the fueling, but, if youve gone full system and air filter then there'll be no need to.... Unless your hardcore and hit the top of the engine... Cams etc etc... And if you did, flog the ecu for a few hundred, plug in the fresh one and the money then goes toward more dyno time....

Certainly worked for you on the 3rd generation. The power commander optioned worked for me on the 1st generation, but the system was not that complex/advanced I guess.
A great sharing of knowledge and an interesting post.

Very nice looking bike. The weather hasn't been too kind for your first summer but I bet you've been riding around with a huge grin !

Yep. Ive gotta say the qs is the most fun ive had in years! I know the reviews place the zed at the (near) to bottom of the current reviews but i really disagree, having said that i suppose i could agree (in stock form) but id say the way mine is, is brilliant, takes a bit of work though but not hard. The icing on the cake will be a nitron r3 race shock.... Soon hopefully....
