... and fell on my foot Never had that before but how bloody annoying! Bit long-winded but I'm at a give way junction to go left, my mate turns right, which is wrong. Land rover behind so I rolled the bike to the kerb as I knew we had to go left & thought 'sod my mate, I'm waiting here 'til he comes back'. Flicked side-stand down, turned round in my seat, left foot on ground, to wave the land rover past. As he waved, I flung my right leg off the bike to get off it and that horrible sinking feeling as I realised my bike was coming with me! I've staggered against the kerb, gone down arms flailing everywhere and me bike lands on my left foot/ankle. Adrenalin helped me kick my bike off me with my right leg as a bloke crossing ran over with his dog lol ... felt a right twat, even if I'd broke both my legs, shame would make me get up and walk away. He picked it up, my mate turns round and comes back as I'm declaring I'm sure I put side-stand down ... bloke tells me I did coz he saw me but as I got off, the bike rolled forward slightly, stand flicked up and down we went. No damage to my beloved mirrors; dented rad (that thankfully didn't leak) coz the rad took the fall on the kerb. Left indicator cover fell off and added another graze to the crank case. Called my bike lots of nasty things but had to ride it again and fell back in love. Just looks a bit ... battle weary!

Really sorry to hear about it Kwik, Glad to know you are OK. After mine went over, I know how easy it is to fall. Sometimes I wish Kawasaki would sort this with an extra notch at the end of the side stand travel, or something to add a little more resistance just in case.

Oh I am sorry to hear your bad news hun! that reminds me of the time my mate did that on his ducati and nearly took all three of us out at the same time!!! "We went to look at a bike for my mate to buy, we all pulled up outside this fellas house, i parked up (rear wheel to the kerb, flicked side stand down and got off, my mate pulled up did the same, then Gee on his Ducati pulled up, flicked stand down, went to get off bike and stand flicked back up.......momentum carried him to the floor desparatley trying to keep his pride n joy off the tarmac..........funny watching him rolling around in the gutter and lucky coz he parked it just far enough away not to take ours out! But I do feel for you Kwik! Hope you get it sorted soon mate.

Years of yoga help me somersault onto the bike and usually enables me to jump clear of the falling bike; the bloody kerb is to blame.
Anyway, 'bout time I invested in some crash bungs - I don't want knobby ones, I want ones that blend in with the bike ... ideas?

the genuine kawasaki ones are a nice shape for the 2003 - 2006 and could possibly pick up second hand

Listen when I say........Knobby ones are good, Trust me when I say after my last off there was little left of the R&G ones I had on at the time and they are pretty Large on the old Crash Bung scale of Scrubbability! They didnt save my Tank or rad Shrouds or even the engine casing (bearing in mind I had the R& G ENgine casings as well..........but saved the Engine so anything less would be a complete waste of time and money........they might look neater but then they wouldnt do the job that they are intended for! Trust Uncle Mark he knows best! x
