After searching in this and a us site I found several ways of lifting the front wheel off the ground. front paddock stand was the way to go(I thought) After I talked to my mate he said they were not very stable and strapping up the front from the rafters in his garage would be the easiest way. he has been riding for years an done loads of work on his own bikes, and said he had a bike go over on a pair of paddock stands. so when I was at work a few weeks ago I thought I would ask a hgv driver if he had a spare rachet strap, a heavy one. And when i told him what it was for the guy said he had a bike and gave me one.(rachet strap). No dirty thoughts now. After putting the bike on a rear paddock stand and the rachet strap under the bars, the wheels were off the floor enough to remove them safely with no chance of the bike going over. sorry if its a bit long winded(if you got to the end) I just thought it might help somebody in our great two wheeled community

My mate did that in my garage with a 1200 bandit (whoops bad word). He worried about the strength of the ratchet strap, i worried about the strength of the rafter. Joint effort lol - but i was never as glad to see a set of wheels back on a bike
I'd opt for paddock stands and a mate to stand and smoke and keep his eyes on the bike ;-)
