Hi,im thinking of dropping a tooth on the front, for more acceleration, but can anyone tell me,what the stock size is,so i can check whats on there first. I beleive its a 15,but just want to make sure before going for a 14 front,as the previous owner had changed the rear. I also guess from what i have read that the speedo will read 10% over, and also miles will increase by 10%...... Any that have dropped a tooth what do you think, and how do you find it.cheers

Hi Olly, Pretty sure that the std front sprocket is 15 teeth. I've dropped one front and upped by 2 on the rear. Bike feels much more lively now and is so much more fun to ride. Like you say speedo will be out a fair amount but can be corrected with a speedohealer.

Std rear is 43. You're right with the price of a speedohealer and they also need splicing into the loom. Coz of that i've not bothered and will live with the fact that milage will increase more rapidly.

The standard gearing on the zed thou is 16/42, you can do what I did and fit a 15t sprocket for an 02/03 zx9R, 525 £15 approx from B&C express.
I found it made for a much better ride around town and not too revvy on the dual carriageway either. Much more responsive on the throttle.
If speedo was accurate and bikes standard sprockets are 16/42 then:
15/42 = 6.25% speedo reading faster than actual speed. 15/43 = 8.43% AS ABOVE. 15/44 = 10.51% AS AS ABOVE
Good luck and dont be shy, give it a try

Doh! Sorry forgot yours is a 7.1/2. Still the theory would still work.
