I fitted a 05 636 shock during the week to my 05 750.
First impressions were a bit dissapointing in that even with the preload backed off to the minimum I couldn't get enough static sag. I weigh 14 stone in full kit.
On the road it is at least as hard as the stock unit but you can feel a much smother ride.
I think I might have to get a softer spring fitted.
