All it took was a 2008 Focus to put the zed on its side. Pardon the pun but the crash protection did a bang up job and took most of it...ironically the side it went down on is undamaged and the other side which got embedded in the front of the Focus ripped the rad open, bent the front disc, smashed the mudguard and grazed the fork....thats as much as i can see at the moment..bars might be bent, mirrors are trashed mirrors are too along with the lever guards. Not had an accident for a long time. All her fault (turned across me on a crossroads ( iwas gonig straight through)...i was right on top of her when she did so didnt have a chance.....spoke to the insurance and while i was on the phone i got a text from her insurance which my guy (BeMoto) said that usually happens when they know its their fault so they try and get in first....which bodes well....
I was expecting an assessor to come and visit (bike is at home in the garage) it was only 2 mins from the house so i managed to push it home....(luckily downhill!)
Anyway - a bit sore and stiff with a temporary limp...but otherwise ok....feast on the damage....

Yeah.... Its weird as if it was any other bike....as im presuming it'd get Cat'd of some sort after this I'd be worried about the resale value but, as I've got no plan to sell it.... It doesnt bother me.... As long as it comes back with everything replaced.

I couldn't agree more, after everything you have done to that babe. It doesn't matter about value as longas it's put back how it was.... and as long as that's done,to a good spec at no cost to u,then it good as it can be out of a bad situation, still a number as it's a well loved bike.... So gutted for u buddy...

So - just got off the phone with the assesor at the repair company....essentially if i got the work done (no offence to them) but it would be a patch up job which im not happy with. Im going to get the bike written off, get it back here and do the work myself. Theres a fair bit to do as the guy had quite an extensive list but its all do-able.....depends now on what price i get for the write off. Im planning on some upgrades at the same time...pfm discs, Nitron internals. and maybe a custom spray job thrown in for good measure...

Back in the early 90s I bought a year old written off ZZR1100 for £500 and had it rolling again for another grand. Turn the negative into a positive man and get the bike built the way you want. It'll be a stunner!

Mate....im pricing up stuff now...my owns an insurance brokerage (hes told me exactly what to say to them to maximise the value) plan is to get 5k back and the bike and then throw about 3 at it reparing and upgrading....so im looking at
The upgrades....
Nitron fork internals New spray job....(got some neat ideas) PFM discs. Aftermarket rad (better cooling) Recoat the wheels to match the new spray job....
And then replace everything else that needs it....the only compromise ill be making is keeping the headlight (small scratch) and the indicator mounts have broken but, ive got a neat way round that....
Rebuild thread incoming...!

Oow!!! Goodie something to look forward to,and like the good man said, turn a negative into a positive. Yes it will be on a cat d,but like u said it's fine with u,as u wasn't selling it anyway.... Happy days to come out of a shit situation..... It will be back, better than before, the bionic man would be jelouse of the new improved zed, custom trick as fooook!!! Edition....

Not much of an update but something. The repair place literally gave up trying to get anything out of Churchil - they replied to no emails, so they said to me "they aint talking to us" youll have to go through your insurance and get the money out of them that way....so thats the way its now going. I spoke to my insurance today who have made their first offer of 6750 for my bike which i turned down - i insured it for 8k so thats what i expect. They might go to 7.5k and if they do ill take it as for some weird reason the percentage that they write the bike off for doesnt change so, ill get just under 5k back which ill be happy with....more than enough to sort it out and probably leave me with some change.

It's a ballache dealing with the fallout of a crash, but you'll get there man, keep your chin up. At least it's only rubbish weather you are missing at the moment anyway.

Takes the piss..... They don't mind taking your money, and even though it wasn't your fault. And she admitted it was on her, they still Dodge paying u out. U can see why people Dodge paying insurance, nowt but a con.... Pay the man,why should people like u have the headache, and the inconvenience,it's data protection, they will only deal with ure insurance, they will have to do the talking, and the fight on ure behalf... Hope it all works out bud....

Yep - its been a manual process alright and im still not through just yet....bit of an update. Spoke to the claims estimator on thursday who after a bit of talking around agreed on 7.5k for the write off value for my bike....i insured for 8k he said a stocker with 30k on the clock was 6k but once i got chatting to him (a bike luckily) and i described all the parts on there, a few ooh's and ahh's later and he was happy with my estimation. What happens next is they go back to Churchill and the agree the value (this is where i expect it to stop again) as theyve replied to precisely all so far....

Light at the end of the tunnel lads...light at the end of the tunnel....my insurance is footing the bill (no cost to me) so, they asked for my details today....said the payment will be made to me in the next 5 days....in the meantime they'll instruct the accident repair'ers to release my bike (ie theyll deliver it back to me) hopefully in the next week also. Ill be chasing them tomorrow for a date....and then the, well, strip down starts first....
Then the build.....new thread for that...
