Cheers Rob. TBH now ive found the hanger i know im going over the top on the rear caliper (being a nickel plated one) but there are plenty of cheap second hand oem p34's for under a ton so its a brilliant upgrade. Cheap, and effective.

When i moved up to the Z1000 from my old ER5, which had the drum brake, when it come to riding in the wet, either wet damp roads or full on showers, i always felt more comfortable with the ER5's drum brake it was more forgiving and less likly to lock up on me,[ iwhen slow riding mostly use the rear brake ] where as the Z1000 disc brake i have had two locks up, one of them was a few years back when i just started riding the Z to work and some tosser in a car didn't want to stop when he came out of a side street, i paniced and put my foot on the rear brake thinking it will slow me down so when i hit him it won't hit as much, of course i wasn't riding the ER5 now so the bike didn't slow me up it was the disc braked Z and locked up, backend snaking around, thoughts going though my head this is it! thank god the car did brake at the last moment, i released my foot and the bike settled down went passed him and into a right hand bend, every since then i always think back to that moment, i have upgraded my front brakes to EBC wavy disc, and braided hose and man they stop you dead in yards in the wet with just two fingers on the lever. i remember going bit mad last summer winding the throttle on up to 65mph and then i had to brake hard, two fingers on lever pulled in slowly foot on back, the back end i could feel snaking as she gripped the road but the bike stopped in around sixty feet! I wanted to do the same with the rear but think back to that morning when it locked up, and think it will do the same every time i touch it, so for that left it alone, just make sure i clean the piston out and check the pads every few weeks.

Yeah - its not cheap...most of it is very blingy but the brake hanger and the torsion arm are what id like...purely cos the hanger holds a better model of caliper and the torsion bar looks way better than the pig iron oem one....i can feel a purchase coming on soon...

So, as you can see you can pretty well fit anything you want from a rear point of view....so you can go as cheap (second hand) or as expensive as you want to...awesome.!

Boom. Meaty. As. ..... You can't picture it but I'd say this caliper is 20 to 30% larger...

Just to add - the only unknown in this is the master cylinder but im reasonably confident it'll be ok....the original single sided oem caliper while it only has the one piston without getting my caliper out to measure it appears to be about 20-30% larger that one side of the new caliper, but, as i say the brake pedal feels solid.

On its maiden voyage to work (only 10 miles) id say off the bat ive got 20 - 30% more braking than i did before without the pads bedding in....ive no idea what pads are in there out of the box but impresuming the cheapest the (Brembo) do - so on the whole im more than happy with the performance increase...on it tomorrow to work also...
