Hello Guys and Happy New Year! Yes not been on here as often as i would have liked due to work taking over my life, but i have a question with regards the back tyer on my Zed 10000 A6F 2006, At the moment i have a Michelin pilot 4 and it starting to wear a bit plus i had a 4" screw stuck in the centre which was removed and plugged, as i ride to work in all weathers and feel the back end giving on some corners, i saw the Michelin Road 5 tyer and thought the tread looked cool and the reviews rate it well for wet weather riding, so i ordered one, from Oponeo price £138, my Kawasaki dealer wanted £163, but here's the thing i odered a 190/55-17 just getting on my bike to come home from work and i looked at the rear tyer and read out the size 190/50-17 i have ordered the wrong blinking size, [ how could i have been so dumb as to do that?] so should i get it delivered [at a dpd depo at the moment] and then send it back and get the proper size or should i fit it to the bike?

Hi keef
Your shout....what kind of riding do you do most?? if its long miles and not much in the way of twisty stuff then the 50 will be fine...youll just find the edge of it sooner (which could give you bragging rights down the pub)!

Hi And thanks for the reply, just noticed in my haste in writing this i spelt tyre wrong, i sent an e mail to oponeo asking them for advice, waiting to hear, as for riding, well i think i am on the track with Rossi each time i get on her, but its only short trips of a few miles each way, to two jobs, but those short trips have nice little corners and bends. But as this 55 size is the sidewall height we are looking at milimeters than inches so only going to raise the back up a touch?

What did you have on there before? if you had a 50 on there before then a 55 is going to make it tip in faster....sounds like it might be better for your short blasts....

the 50 comes as standard on the gen fours, i have had both the 50 and the 55 on and now gone back to the 50 as its cheaper, seems a popular upgrade to the 55 but to bre honest i found the difference minimal

Update on this, the 55 was sent back because as i was at work they couldn't deliver it, then e mail Oponeo who replied telling me not to worry, when they get it back they will send out the correct size tyre, great i thought, that was the start of the nightmare. I ordered the tyre in Dec last year, i waited and waited sent countess e mails and nothing, inthe end i phonned them up,i was told i will have to wait 30 days, terms and conditions etc etc then they will issue a refund! waited another two weeks still nothing so phonned again, spoke to a lady and explained didn't want refund want a bloody tyre, oh ok will do that for you! four days later the tyre arrived [ 20TH Feb ], hoorey! its now fitted and so far seems to be ok, just breaking it in so will have to see how it goes in the coming months, cost me £132 in the end, my local Kawasaki dealer wanted £154. Michelin 190/50 -17 road 5 the next one up from a Pilot 4

Only been riding to work, thats a job in the morning and only a few miles away, but its 5.15am so nothing on the roads then, and another job in the afternoons, again only few miles away and so far no different to the pilot 4 it replaced, but the weather should be getting warmer and dryer soon and the road will also be getting warmer, fingers crossed as i listen to the rain outside the window!

Well so far things looking up, seems to give better grip in on wet road but even better on a dry one, one thing i have noticed doesn't warm up as quick like my old Road 4 did, but its still early days, Summer I'm waiting for you? Also the other week bak i stripped out the old shock linkage and refitted another bought off flea bay, the cost of fitting new kawasaki needle roller bearings was silly so bought cheaper ones from Simply bearing, had to get my local bike shop to push the old out and new in, which cost me £20 and then refitted to the bike, so the ride is a little better now, not bouncing all over the road, now to strip the old one down and get that ready incase i need it some where in time!

Attaboy - plan ahead...! My rsv4 is off the road at the moment...before the summer really gets going its been treated to a mid life spruce up....pulled it apart yesterday for the exhausts to be recoated, coolant manifold upgrade (from plastic to alloy) - plus an assortment of bits to be recoated also. Had the chance of an upgrade from my Nitron R3 race pro to an ohlins ttx mk2 with hpa.

Well the tyre is slowly bedding in, waiting for track [sorry road] to warm up bit more, in the wet or rain i like to go slow, that's not down to the tyre its because at my age falling off cost me money to fix the bike, and me to take a long time to heal, but you said plan a head, in your last post, i got my self a rear wheel of thingy bay, bit scuffed and rust bits here and there, so bought some polishing mops to do the rims, never tried this before, use a rough/course sisal mop first and work down to softer and finer, then touch of autosol and looks like new, then going to put my spare pilot 4 on this, and got it for a spare!
