Hi Guys, Bike due for its Mot this month, my go to guy was away on his hol's so went to the guy i bought the bike from, got the bike in to his show room area and he said the exhaust have failed, before he even started to do the mot, i said what do you mean? its new rules brought in, if after market cans, pipes or system is louder than the standard exhaust fitted on the bike its failed! He then asked do i still have the original exhaust, i said yes, well after work refit that and bring the bike back in the morning, i will pass it and then you can swop it over again later, What? am i missing something here, He said it's some new Mot ruling, well its new to me, i just thought of all the bike owners who have bought new end can etc and sold the orignals they are going to be screwed, the small shops that knock out end can's and systems are going to be forced out of business, I changed my pipes not for the loud sound, i muffed mine even more with wool baffle packing, it was to save weight, two stone orignal ends to 4 Lbs after market. So has anyone else had a problem with this new ruling?

Mine passed fine in June with Campbells on. Didn't even bother putting the baffles in. Only comment I got was "I bet no one pulls out on you with these on" I am a true believer loud pipes save life's.

Well just come back from the bike shop and got a pass, but it took me 40 mins last night swapping them over and having to take the belly pan off, Another thing got me thinking, if this new rule is true, , What happens to the bike dealer who bought a second hand bike say two years back, with after markets on they couldn't sell you the bike with a valid mot? You change your pipes over for the mot get a pass, change them over again, ride down the road get stopped by Mr.Plod, you have a loud exhaust, your nicked! When he was reving my motor it was in a small show room so it echoed, making the sound louder than it really is, if i can ride to work at 5.30am in the morning's and don't get any complains, just wondering it the dealer was being a ?

imo hes got his rules mixed up.. mine just passed and it is loud even with the killers in, it is up to the testers discretion i guess if its way to loud but he needs a decibel meter to prove its over the legal limit, and thats the point, it just needs to be in the limit and most stations aint got the decibel meter on hand so fit some killers next time if its real loud cos some of the fookas can be an arse if they had a bad day ;0
