This thread could get quite involved - depends on how it goes down with you lot....over on the .com forum a lad posted this video about a year ago....
For quite a few pages people were lining up essentially saying take my money....the bloke that posted the vid knew the lad that made the mod. As far as i know nothing had come of it (over a year ago now). Now im not one for bling but i did think "that looks pretty nifty". So, a few months back i was chatting with my brother who is an extremely clever electrical, hardware and software engineer. I showed him the vid to which he looked at it and said "yeah i could build and that and probably do it better...." He was pretty loaded up with work back then and now has cleared the decks a little and has started work on it. Now, if this comes to fruition we're looking at about 3 months or so for a finished product. Features will be...
1. 3 different LED colours. White, Blue and Green. In the UK you cant have red at the front. 2. Sequences will be left to right, right to left strobe with variable speed (knightrider stylee), Flash (different speeds), permanently on, and all of those in the 3 colours. 3. Wireless control of the light via bluetooth. Android and IPhone will be supported.
We're expecting the cost to be about 150 quid. The unit will ship with the view that you remove your city light, cut, yes, cut the lens away from the back of the housing, fit the replacement unit glue it back together and away you go....or alternatively we get a 3d printed like for like replacement for the city light and have it as a plug in option.
I spoke to him yesterday and im going over is place to help him with some other stuff but, he reckons by the weekend he'll have a variboard (rough version) of the unit working. He does it this way to prove all the software programming and hardware works....if when i get over there its at that point....ill grab some video of the app (he's got an iphone) controlling the city light.
So, whats the verdict...anyone interested or no....as i say i thought it looked brilliant, no other bike has that shape light (that i know of) so it would be a very unique thing to an even more unique bike....i no one is interested ill get one made for my bike and ill leave it there...

Ok - just so you know im not full of hot air (as it were) heres a proof of concept for the board....
Off camera is the phone instigating the strobing wirelessly, on the left is the bluetooth dev board (the final bluetooth design will be about 6mm or so square and will be underneath the board. Spoke to my brother earlier on. Boards "should" be going to manufacture in 2 - 3 weeks....in the meantime he'll carry on coding in all the routines (and also the timing) to get the led's to kind of strobe like a wave a la knighrider-looking effect....

Boards now currently being tracked. Brother has decided to split the led board and the bluetooth board into two to make better use of the limited space in the light housing.....hope to have some more pics soon when the final design comes back from manufacture...

Boards are being tracked at the moment. There will be two boards inside....one at the back of the light (all internal) to control the bluetooth and the main part which holds the actual LED's. There will be 7 on the board, one in the middle and 3 either side. They'll be going off for manufacture the start of next week. Should have a working prototype at the end of August. We will have 3 different boards (the only difference being the LED colours we use) there will be two rows of LED'S. The second row will be Bi Coloured to save space. Just a quick message to let you all know its moving forward steadily.

Yeah - hope so. Boards are away being done at the moment. Components have been ordered. Id say about 4 weeks before something i can take some video of. Im making 5 boards initially each with different led colours to see how they look. 2 of them will be programming boards as my brother hasnt finished the bluetooth and app part yet....and, it also means that if he improves something then he can mail the code over to me which i can then program into the pic (Brain).

Well, the first unit is back and it works. The phone can connect to the Bluetooth interface. Programming now starts...the rest of the units are now being put together (another 4) these'll have different lighting arrangements so we can see how they look.

Well, my brother phoned me to put me straight on a couple of things. First and foremost the unit from a hardware point of view the unit is finished so, its available now, for sale. 200gbp for the unit with 2 rows of LED's 235gbp for the 2 row version the second row having multi coloured LED's. Now, i may be a bit hazy here and will probably get a phonecall tonight correcting me, but, to control this the APP is not yet finished but, there is a basic bluetooth app that can be downloaded from the app store to control the led (what he used to show the blue light strobing). Due to the fact that he self employed and has other commitments the app may take a while to completed but, from a basic controlling point of view (and if youre software savvy) might find it easier/quicker to do it yourself or, just use the basic tool to get it working. All the logic is in the hardware. For future updates to the firmware controller on the board....ie if someone says...." can you make it flash this way, or that?" then yes it can be but the controller would have to be returned to me to have the firmware updated.
If no one is interested, then it ends here with my light and the few spare templates we had made.
Ill be fitting one to my bike this weekend (as the only thing weve not seen yet is how it looks behind the lens itself).

Just to say that i did do a video but i couldnt get one of the banks of lights to work....nothing physically wrong but more software. As the firmware on the board that controls the lights is very early its a bit flaky....so ill have a go again tonight, get straight with how im getting the lights to work and then do a vid....

Sorry about the wait.... work has gone through the roof ( with my daytime job) and also with my brothers workload too. Because I've not put the vid up its ok...the software development hasn't stopped moving forward....it's alot more stable than it was. I've also got another hex file in my email to flash onto the unit...it's a little bit heath Robinson but it shows it working...let me know what you all think...good or bad.

Just thought I'd update the thread....it's not died, had to redesign the bluetooth board. It was making the lens stand off the rear of the casing literally by the thickness of the bluetooth receiver so that's now been reversed now meaning the unit fits within the confines of the light so, hardware finished. Next job is to get all the different sequences written to the firmware, then it can be sealed and put on the bike. At that point it just the app that needs to be set up....android first and then iOS after.

We will be selling them but not quite yet.... Theres a final design needs a small internal change and the app is currently being coded.
