Bike has under 7k miles but a hand full of owners already??

Hard to say off hand, as i seem to be crap at buying bikes and then finding loads of problems afterwards, i take it all paper work is in order! it hasn't been writen off! as for the many owners, you wouldn't know unless you could ask them, But when i got my 2006 A6F last year i thought it only needed a new a few things, as the guy i bought it from was a crappy dealer, so replaced the brake pads all round, cleaned up and lubled the chain, and replaced a lot of missing bolts, screws and fasteners, A month or two down the line one seal went in the right fork,so that cost me £100 for both to be renewed, so check theres no misting around the seals, check the main engine oil, does it run ok, no strange noise coming form anywhere, do the brakes work? disc not binding? etc etc!
You can go on and on, but in the end its down to you, but make sure you have more than one key! red master key if your lucky! And the price, do you thing its worth the price being asked for? I paid £3,350 for my 08 reg with 24thou and two owners, i have spent about a grand on new bike bling and abba stand and still new stuff i want! So as i say its down to you if you can try and take someone who knows about buying a car/bike as they can ask questions check something your not even looking/thinking about.

Will have to wait to see if any members can add to it more, i believe the reviewers on testing the bike said the brakes were weak, but i can't cpmpare them to another bike of same size etc, but to me they seem fine, as long as all the pistons are working together, and the fuel the bike use's is my only worry, i think i get around 40 to gall around town and then less when wind the throttle! so trips to petrol pumps filling up once a week hits the pocket a bit compard to a smaller bike, but its the price you pay for the fuel injection.

Yeah i understand I havnt even had a go of a zed yet...this is my first one
I have had a drz400 supermoto, sv1000 and now own a ktm 690smc supermoto. I mainly fill up every chance i get as some roads i go on its easy to get caught short lol...i ride over the lakes, hardnott pass etc.
(sold the sv to buy ktm and sold the drz to make room for the zed 😎)
Loved the sv with it being a vtwin but riding position wasnt for me.

Coo - its a while since ive seen you post....were'nt you going to get one last year? or maybe the year before..?
On the whole theyre pretty reliable. The zx9 lump (bottom end) hasnt really changed right up the current gen 4. Whats the mileage? not that it matters as theyre very reliable but check that if its up a bit - make sure the valve clearances have been done...its 26k on the gen 4. As long as the previous owner has looked after it and has receipts to show for work carried out then youre ok. Expect like most other bikes to see rusty fittings and badly coated surfaces. My gen4 at 4k had to have a load of stuff taken off and recoated and also replaced most of the bolts on the underside of the bike...maybe a bit ocd of me, but thats just me. Ktm eh...you on the ktm forum? Ive got a 525 exc supermoto conversion...

Hello there sofa! Was september last year lol I sold the sv and bought the ktm 690smc 09 reg.....bloody love it!!!
The zed has just over 5k miles 😎....next service is 7.5k and just oil/filters and spark plugs aint it?
I would give it a service if i buy it myself anyways.
Ive tried to look for a service manual to download but no luck yet.

Hi There!
From what you say i wouldnt say theres anything really to worry about with just 5k on it. Yeah - 7.5k would be plugs and oil i would say....mines gonna hit 12k soon and ive not had one issue. But then, i tend to clean it and attend to it quite often - last weekend i changed the fork oil and cleaned the front caliper pistons as i was noticing it dragging...i freewheel down the road in the mornings as a. I live on a hill and b. its makes a s**t load of noise but this morning it rolled down freely and then onto the steeper hill (the main road) without the need of me helping it along...there was a fair bit of gunk stuck to the caliper pistons so i spend a couple of hours cleaning them out. Well worth it.

I payed 5450 for a 09 Z1000R with just under 3000 miles on the clock about two years ago. Has just over 7000 now. Payed a bit more in the dealer but was immaculate and best one in area. Had one at bridge in Exeter with nearly 20000 on the clock and not much less than the one I got. If I'm being picky when I washed it first time I noticed there was a slight scratch on the left indicator fairing and a nic out the rear hugger. Was basically standard apart from tail tidy, hugger and rear led indicators. Had it's first filters and oil done plus new battery for sale. On pick up they let me roll out of there on ridiculously low pressure tires. Was super happy and puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. Just been Bmad over the weekend. Mint
