Hi Guys,
Just thought I would share my Suspension set up (Gen4 2016)
I have bought a Nitron for the rear (Might as well throw the standard shock away)(There is an inherent problem with the Rebound setting) ie not enough of it
1/ First raise the rear off the ground with your paddock stand
2/ Stick two large screw drivers in the hollow spindle that holds the rear swing arm in place.
3/ I used two patio chairs to place under each screw driver
4/ lower the paddock stand, the bike should now be resting on the screw drivers
5/ Change over the shocks
6/ Once done, don`t forget to measure the rear "top out" measurement (all your sags should be taken from this measurement) before putting your paddock stand back in place and removing chairs and screw drivers
The front suspension is now going to be a mile out because of your new rear shock (so you are going to have to re-adjust)
Anyway here`s the tip :- Use a GOPRO the set your front and rear suspension
I`ll not go into the how`s of suspension set up :- there`s loads of stuff on the net
Anyway after miles of video I have arrived at the following :-
Riders Sag 34mm Front
Compression 4 3/4 turns out
Rebound 1 3/4 turns out
Rear Nitron RT1 Riders sag 31mm
13 clicks out
The Nitron is built for my weight which is 14 stone (kit on)
I found the GOPRO to be a godsend when using it to do my settings
I didn`t have to rely on friends and I had hours of footage at high and low speeds to be able to tweak my settings to my liking
One last tip :- Take off your GOPRO set it to a height of approx. 2 foot off the ground and film your bike side on.
With one hand pushing on the bars and one pushing on the seat:- you are looking for uniform movement (front and back suspension)
ie when you push down:both front and rear shocks depress at the same speed and when you release both shocks raise at the same speed.
It`s a bit of a crude write up guys:- But if you`re like me :- Set up is the holy grail and I found this technique better than any professional write up,purely because you can actually see how the shockers are performing and you can review it again and again
