I have a 2009 Z1000 that i have now laid up for winter so will be attending to a few things, one of the them is stone chips to the engine block just behind the exhausts.
What is the best paint to use a good colour match? anyone found a good one to use ? cheers

This sounds really over the top but if you can get the top end of and get it coated....the reason i say is that ive never come across an over the counter paint thats been applied - thats stayed on...ever....they all look great when theyre applied but after a short while look like you should have never bothered as it then looks worse....this is from personal experience mind you. And to that end when i was rebuilding my 525 supermoto i took some advice from a friend who, imo is probably one of the best bike builders out there....heres my supermoto engine before...
Shit isnt it. At that point it had done 70 hours of use in its time....this is after it was coated...
This is back in the bike...
The coating is called xylan - all the surfaces have to be blasted before its applied. Its used in oil rig applications so its resistant to pretty well anything out there....i deliberately last year rode it in the middle of winter, in the rain, slush and salt and then chucked it back in the garage to dry out and go crusty....took about an hour to clean and it looks just the same as it did when it was put back in the bike....
One of my biggest bugbears is sloppy coatings and fixings as it can make and break the look of a bike and pretty well most apects of it. Most manufacturers will cheapskate in this areas as they can get away with it...
