As I`m quite a heavy braker type person my rear brake pads are almost out and I think the front pads/disks have seen better days. Could anyone recommend somewhere to get upgraded replacements from as I`m struggling. Also do the brakes from the 2013 and older model fit the new one? I think what I`m after is replace rear pads for the best anyone can recommend then replace front disks and pads. Please advise. Thanks in advance

for pads I would go with HH front and rear from any major brand. Some say to fit HH at the front and an organic at the rear which give a softer but better feel, however I would only fit these on the rear if you find you are locking up the rear wheel (maybe not an issue if you have abs)

Hmm... Never had an issue with braking but I'd say pads first... I'm on sure the disc would have an effect (a noticeable one anyway) I think if I was looking to overhaul I would say calipers.... You can get some good secondhand brembos for bugger all now... But saying that the stock mono blocks are pretty good...

Just want to ask, about the back brake, going though the haynes manual, and fitting new pads, they make it simple, but as the exhaust pipes are in the way, [ 2006 A6F model, shotgun pipes] thinking! Is it easier to take the right side pipes off to get at the caliper, to renew pads etc? As i know mine are wearing thin and need to be done soon.

I've HD the gen 1 and now the gen 4 but both are the same (in a way).... Take the pipe off, unbolt the arm, two bolts to remove the caliper. I would suggest before putting the new pads in clean as much as you can round the pistons with wd40 before you put the new pads in.... And, use copper slip also... Stops the pistons binding and stops brake squeal..

Cheers for that, had the bike a week now and spent each day giving her a clean, going out in the sun to get caught in the rain, just sprayed the radiator guards stain black as i didn't like the cheap looking silver, when i sort out my camera will post some photos.

Just to add - ive found spraying stuff up eventually comes off and looks worse than when you started....I would say find a local powder coater, take all the bits off that have gone the same way (I guarantee the headlight frame will be going) take it all in and get the lot coated at once....the day after I picked up my bike (the new 64 plate one) I pulled it to pieces and there was quite a pile of metal to be coated....and the whole lot cost 40 quid cash in hand. Now, those said bits a year later once wiped over look like new....
