Sounds like a weird question doesn't it? But for me its pretty valid as it has done quite a few times in different ways.... I though I'd post a general question here as it applies to all of us.... For me it started with my old gen 1 zed that I bought off my neighbour about 6 years ago or so. I bought it and the first time I opened it up on a dual carriage way near me it took off, more than I was expecting...
Roll up to present day. Sat on a gen 4 in the showroom last year and the position surprised me... How could something that angular be that comfortable? That was confirmed when I picked it up.... I'm in Bristol and I picked mine up from the far side of Kent and rode it back to Bristol with one stop for 10mins for fuel and to blurt out to my mate on the phone in the forecourt how amazing it was.... He's an Aprilia man through and through so I don't think ill get round him.... Although he did sit on it and the eyebrows went up... Quite a lot..!
Surprised me again from a fuel bill point of view: Round trip to the ace resulted in a 30quid fuel bill for the evening and part of that was almost a top ender!
And again just before xmas on my way home from work dawdling along, jeans, bag on my back, minding my own business.... Pass a 2015 r1 and a few miles later he rockets past me and I think "yeah... I'll bite!" so we get to a roundabout where hes ready to go left and me right, light change and at the last second I think.... Left! He opens it up and starts to go through the gears hitting the qs before the limiter confirmed with a quick backfire. In the space of a very quick couple of miles he pulled no distance on me apart from the width of the lanes we initially were apart on the lights. Coupled with this at the other end I was braking later putting me in front, I rounded the mini to small roundabout at the end and came back up to continue my journey home with a rather large smile on my face: think Jamie Lee Curtis in the chopper towards the end of True lies (if youve seen it!). I know this was a quick straight line Eddie and the story would have been different had the roads been longer, quieter and even more bendy but I personally think that he though I wasn't going to be sitting on his tail... Atall...
For a bike to get (and correct me if im wrong) the average reviews at best from the journo's my zed has constantly impressed me on multiple levels doing a variety of different tasks. I know mines had a fair bit done to it but no upgrade (apart from the dyno work) has taken me more than a few hours and even if you don't have access to a dyno guy like mine (the amazing Chris at CJS) you can also use Ivan's race shop for a pre done flash.
I fact it's impressed me so much this year and the last 3 years trips to the tt has been on my rsv4 but I'm half considering taking the zed to see how it fair's over the mountain against other stuff...
Although a little quiet on here (its got a little busier in the last 9 months or so) everyone I've spoken to on here has been polite and we'll mannered (just what a forum should be like!) it's not like the ducati forum where all ducati owners are on there so its extremely busy so I expect it not to be as busy, but, I look forward to hearing what the rest of you have to say about yours.
Most of the chatter on here tends to be upgrade, problem solving or maintenance based so I thought I'd post something that's totally open for discussion....
