We went, we saw, we came home....
Had a really nice ride up there along the m4. Late Friday afternoon about 5pm....sun out, warm and clear, and average amount of traffic and got a lot busier once we got into inner London. Heres a few pics...not brilliant im afraid as the car park at the Ace is not very well lit...atall...I must confess I thought id posted this the other night but it cant of saved....anyway...
Observations....compared to Loomies I would say people go here to be seen...the standard of bikes was ok but there were a fair amount of old shitters (some just having the tits revved off of them...) not very nice and all that does is get he local's back's up - nothing more - plus it attracts the plod (who were camped out over the road). A case in point of (going to be seen) - me and my mate were sitting in the ace waiting for our food to be served up and a bloke and his dolly bird came and sat next to us...ill try to describe...6ft, slim built, about 35 - 40 (but trying to be 20 - 25) suspiciously black hair, the obligatory chain on the jeans (I have no idea whats on the other end) - crash helmet off and one of those kind of knitted bag things over his head...trying to make some sort of grungy statement I guess....as soon as his mouth opened my mate looked at me wide eyed...."ohh ya, I test rode it and just hhhaaaadddd to have it..." - he carries on talking, we finish, get up and go for a wander out in the car park....he follows out with his bird and stands just behind us and he's on a 63 plate z1000sx, puts the key in and it lights up like a Christmas tree, strip led's all over it....asshole....and there were quite a few bikes like that....
My Zed: Got quite a bit of attention, quite a few pics got taken of it, a few asked what it was. The journey up was really comfortable, stopped to go to the toilet at membury - didn't need fuel. And, the fuel bill for the whole night - I estimated about 320 miles was 27 quid....not bad considering we were cruising over the speed limit and on the way back I top ended it also. The initial fill up in London back to full was 11 quid, not bad from the opposite side of Bristol....the fuel economy is amazing (but, I knew it would be once it was correctly fuelled). Would I go again? yes but only in the summer months when I know the temperature at night is warmer - it was fucking freezing on the way home, coldest at reading services but got a little warmer the more west we went...I might add that now mines at the performance level that its currently at the acceleration in the 80+ bracket is nothing short of amazing, linear turbine like performance - there is no waiting around, it goes straight there. I was on my way home from work the other night and have a akrapovic'd MT09 behind me.....not for long....it really is the perfect all round package...
Of the two (loomies and Ace) I prefer Loomies for a lot of reasons....
1. Loomies to me seems like Bikers go for the ride there (its out in the country so the journey is nothing short of amazing) - for me where I am anyway...
2. The bikes: bikes at Loomies tend to be either looked after in their stock form or if they modded its tasteful and performance based, where as the ace as I said there were loads of bikes either covered in stickers or led's....awful.
3. The location: Ace is inner city, Loomies is out in the country and quieter plus when youre there is quieter, the odd bike taking off but that's it....ace has people just starting bikes in the car park going nowhere and just revving the tits off them...
Now I know where the ace is yeah, id go again, but in the summer, and earlier in the day....but looking forward to my next Loomies trip....ive just got myself a Nitron race pro rear shock for the rsv4....its on its way, so the royal mail just told me....
Heres the pics...
As I say it was quite dark so sorry about the quality....
