Hi turbo, Looks like you're really going for it big style with the engine mods. With all tuning, there is always the trade off between BHP and reliability, so by building a strong motor to start with will yield greater performance for longer. Replacing the valve seats is a good idea but be careful which valves you use. Titanium might seem like the obvious choice, due to the high tensile strength and light weight but they can crack when using hard seats. Using softer seats can stop valve wear and damage but wears out the seats so finding a combination that marries together is what you'll need to discover. I see that you are also looking into replacing the rods for billet ones, rather than cast....good move. Same with low comp turbo pistons. Another thing to consider is additional crankcase webbing to strengthen the cases, billet or welded crank and upgraded gearbox and clutch (I'd say billet cogs and perhaps an upgrade on the oil pump and a big high pressure radiator to cope the the extra heat) My friend years ago ran a Spondon framed GSX 1100 turbo. It would run low 9's and won a lot of streetbike races. He was honest about it and stated that it was cheaper to take a stock motor, slap his turbo and other goodies on it then run it till it popped that it was to keep tuning them. He would buy a donor bike, take out the engine and throw in the blown one then resell and get his money back or break for spares, thus pepetuated his race bike with motors. So even though it was against my way of thinking, it worked ! Once you are done with your engine mods....have you considered any suspension and braking system upgrades? Keep up the updates, its a great read. F

Well I know, I deal with titanium valves on mx bikes and they never last long at all. What I'm trying to do is build my motor all out of ape parts bar piston and rods. I've found a brilliant company that will do custom piston for me for £160 per piston with rings gudgeon pins and all that.
I'm going to get custom rods done but I want the neck of the rod to be thick as it can be but I'll have to wait till the machinist see’s, what he reckons. The head is going to have bronze valves guides as well but I do agree with you though, not my way on swapping motors ever time it goes pop, not very cost effective.
I have my turbo number two with some plumbing already done. On the brakes side I'm going to fit 6 pots on the front, handling wise I’ll probably go Hyper pro springs set up front and rear it’s like £200 and that’s the front spring swapped and rear as well but I'll probably look more near time. I want the motor done as this the heart of it all lol but I will log everything I find and fit and works. I will put heavier output shaft on my motor as well just for easy of mind. I'm going for 400 /500 bhp mark on my bike which will be or some probably will be useless on the road but it’s on tap which will be good and I will drag race it on local track but haven't thought on racing properly though. I'm just trying to build dream bike when it's done it's done that's why it's being done in two stages lol
