My 2003 Z1000 has developed a small oil leak. Its not running out but a bit of a weep. It seems to be coming from a sensor on the front left hand side of the rocker cover. It is situated just behind where the crash post bolts to the frame. It appears to push in, then be held in place by a single 10mm bolt head Can anyone shed any light as to what this sensor is & is there any oil seal or o ring behind? Cheers Neil

Hi Neil, Sounds like your Cam Position sensor. There is an O ring on it i'm sure. Unbolt and remove the sensor then remove the O ring. Most garages should keep a supply of O rings and even your local dealer or bike shop I would imagine. Shouldn't be much to replace it. Just take the old one with you and match them up with what you find, clean everything before refitting and apply a little rubber grease if you have some and refit F

Got a genuine o ring for the cam sensor from Fowlers. Took 2 mins to take the crash post off, the sensor off & change the o ring, but took an hour to get the crash post back in. Who's bright idea was it to use a nut that slides in to the engine mount but is not captive.
There is so little room that the nut kept dropping off because I couldn't hold it in place because of the crash post. Ended up with some blu tak on a pry bar to hold it in place.
Oil leak cured though.....
