Does it go away when you clutch?

Does it go away when you clutch? Are you talking about Jobby's noise or Andy's wifes whining ? I have to give mine a good hard kick to get it to stop whining. I've read of this noise on the yank forum on 03 -06 Z1000s and it was the fuel pump.

I'd say Fuel pump or chain! I sometimes hear my pump going. Chain: Mine wasn't noticable...went in for 4k service, and as soon as I got on I noticed it!! Chain was as slack as a rent boys ring (Fcuk knows why as they adjusted it!!!) and better now I've set is as the book says, but still does it a little.

Thats exactly what happened me Jon but i swore with my lid on it was coming from the front wheel or front of the engine, bang after the first service, when i clutched it went away. I have never heard of a chain making such a whining noise before but sure enough the noise went away after it was lubed up, never would have thought squeeky o rings would make such a squeeky whiney noise but it was
I swore that after such bad weather that there must be grease washed off the bloody axle or something or out of the wheel bearings as i just couldn't get me head around it
