I haven't managed to get a manual for my Z1000 yet, but I really want to get rid of the fugly standard cans ASAP!!! However, on looking at my bike on Sunday, a good mechanic / engineer friend of mind was saying that changing the cans may result in a loss of some mid range power as it appears there is the equivalent of an exup valve conncted to my cans. Has anyone changed the cans on their 08 model and if so, can you offer any advice / experience on this? Cheers

Hi fallenangel, ive changed the standard cans on my 07/08 z1000, and have to say the bike runs far better with the new cans, The bottom end power hasn't really changed or not that much you would notice it, BUT the top end and mid-range power is far better It pulls far stronger than before and saves weight too Hope this helps m8

just go ahead and do it mate.I didn't have a clue and with the help from these very helpful chaps (& chapess) chose the right pipes...fitted myself...then learnt about mapping & fuelling issues.I'd have been lost without this site ...and the bike is way better for the changes!!!
