Hi All
I am trying to get a decal of a bike fairing. I normally heat up the decal and it peels away cleanly….but no, not this time. This time it has left a sticky film in the shape of the decal which I cannot remove with heat and a plastic scraper and its huge!
Is there any magical solution out there? Is there an old school trick I don’t know of?
Thanks in advance.
Monki

When I de-stickered mine it left the adhesive, so I used a soft cloth soaked in white spirit. Once I'd got all the goo off, I washed it down with some warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid in it, then finished off by applying a new coat of polish. Looks fine. Just test the white spirit on an out of sight area first, just in case it marks it. It depends if it's coloured plastic, or painted. Good luck. Matt.

Look for anything with 1:1:1 tri-chlor-ethylene in it. It's supposed to be banned but you can still get it as a specialist surface preparation. It was used for dry-cleaning (and an anasthetic ) Best de-greaser made, and clears up old sticker glue in a jiffy (is that a real word ?)

+1 on using trichloroethylene,it used to be available from plumbing stores as a cleaner for soil pipes prior to glueing If it doesn't do the job sit in a small room with windows & doors shut, open tin and breathe.....now get down off the ceiling ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I use "Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover". Follow the instructions properly and it gets off old tar, new tar, glue, chain lube, flies....pretty much anything!!!!!!
