I'm off on Tour next June with my mate for a week to Spain/France for a week. Not been abroad before on my bike so would welcome some tips and advice. Also, any info. on routes, hotels, roads from Santander to Cherbourg would be gratefully received. Ta, Hamish

The road from Pamplona to St Jean Pied De Port is brilliant. Twists up and down through pine forests. It's a long time since I was on it but I read about it in Bike magazine and I can't imagine it's changed much.

careful out there mate, few people round here reckon them frenchies drive on the wrong side of the road! can't see it myself like but just in case, follow someone else off the boat first....

Hi hamish. The worst part about riding abroad is as planemaker said is the first roundabout after you leave the boat. it does get easier just dont get to relaxed at t junctions especially at quite ones. Weve never had a problem finding hotels, we just turn up at a town and can usually find a hotel for about 10 of us with out any probs. We usually pay between 10 & 30 euros each person. If its your first trip abroad then have a look at a map and pick your own road besides they are all better than our ones. Have fun Phipsy
