Hi Mike, I'm also fairly new to the Z1000 but I can't say I've noticed a weave and I've had it up to 120 (briefly on a private road of course!). To be fair I've sat at just below a ton for a fair time without any probs.
I've got some ultra low road renthals on mine and I wonder if they make a difference? cheers Skippy

Can't say I've had that happen to me either. All I've had is a slightly light feeling front end

I had this on my 750. It was caused by me leaning froward (to try and cut the windblast) but sticking my elbows right out. The bars were shimmying all over the place. Try tucking you elbows down onto your sides and kinda lock them in. Another thing i noticed was be smooth on the clutchless upshift from 5th to 6th. I snapped the throttle too hard and wiggled the bars, and they just kept wiggling after that. I'm sure my eyeball marks are still on the inside of my visor after that.... it was like something out a cartoon!!!

am fairly sure it is because your front tyre is knackered. that was my problem anyway! or if your suspensions are set up too soft but honestly check your front tyre, even in a straight line it will affect the ride badly when bald..

You could try fitting a steering damper, would probably stop it

I had it on my 750 on the motorway. Riding with litre bikes, I decided to actually see what mine would do as well as trying to keep up with them. Got to about 138 and I was tucked down but me, it hurt! Bike weaved all over the place (new tyres), I was tucked in, arms in but it just didn't like it. Bike only does it when I get to around 130ish which obviously isn't very often. Couldn't it be simply due to the fact it's a naked bike?

thanks for all the replies lads, its been 12 years since ive had a knaked bike (honda hornet) and that did weave at high speed. As the other lad said , my weave was noticable above 130mph , it was on new tyres and the suspension was soft, ive been out today, the tyres are bedded in and ive altered the limited suspension, upped the back and hardened the front. Any weave didnt seem as bad but i didnt go over 130mph to be honest owt over 100 for too long is uncomfortable
do the renthal bars help? im thinking of fitting some !
cheers mike

Hi Mike, I've also had some pretty hairy speed weaves but also found the cure, on mine it only happens when I'm wearing bulky waterproofs/cordura jacket over leathers etc...but when I only have my one or two piece leathers on it never occurs, with you saying you've only just got the bike I assume you're well wrapped up! try it on a day wearing a tighter summer/leather....good luck.

Hmmm ... leather trousers, textile jacket here and 142mph on Saturday. The weave kicked in but it's kinda hypnotic it did feel to me it would eventually go into a tank-slapper - think that's possible? I'm sure its just the design of the bike and it's once in a blue moon I'd do the speed above anyway (was just to see what would happen) ... everything else, bar suspension, is perfick

hi boys and girl ! yes on the occasion of the real bad weave it was windy with a strong side wind knaked bikes do weave slightly but that one did scare me, like the other post said i was scared it would develop into a tank slapper, and its years since ive had a slapper !
me brother got off his BMW R1200S and had a go on our sunday ride out, he was well impressed by the bike, he thought the engine was superb ! I have to agree it is !
cheers mike

After reading a post on this site I thought going up to 15w on the forks would be good for my weight. WOW what a difference it has made for me. Not only did the front end stop bobbing up and down on the bends, but low speed maneuvering felt loads more secure. The high speed wobble all but went away. Got to be the best £7.50 spent on my bike yet.
