sorry to ask a question what has proberly been asked a thousand times, but it semms that the standaed settings on an 06 model is set for a twelve stone person and me being 15 stone (not fat just tall honest!!) i find that the bike on bad road surfaces jumps all over the place. now i have been told that it is something to do with rebound settings and damping. i have read many of the 07 model tests and have seen how tweaking that has improved the bike and was wondering if that is the thing to do. Also how would i go about doing it. i am an engineer but have not had to adjust suspension before. thanks

To start with I would increase the preload at the front and rear. The rear is done moving the collars(x2,top one is a locking nut/collar) at the top of the spring, this will firm the action up. You will need a C-spanner ideally for this. The front is the 17mm(i think)nut on the top of the fork leg, about 2 rings showing is alright on the front, the rear is by feel. Only other adjustment you have is rebound damper adjustment, its the little flat blade screwdriver notch adjuster, turn right for harder, left for softer.

How did you get on with this? I'm 14 stone and my Zed seems a bit bouncy so I need to do some adjustments. Plus I need to do find out the settings for when my pillion is with me (a further 11 stone).
Btw - I'm an ex-Longsands bloke myself...

I went with -
Front -
Preload - 1 ring showing Rebound - all the way in, then 1/4 turn out
Rear -
Preload - 10mm of threads showing above top lock nut Rebound - all the way in, then 1/4 turn out.
