I've read loads of threads about his mod on the USA site and to be honest I am a little confused. All Iwant to know is if I do the Mod and fit a K&N filter, will it give me more acceleration, and is this ok to do without messing about with PC111 and other things. Ta, Hamish

As to whether it actually does anything is open to question. I have moded my air box and fitted different cans and it does seem to pick up better(weight loss?) Haven't fitted different air filter or PC3 at the moment due to funds. Left filter as didn't want to 'lean' the mixture to much with out compensating with the PC3.Problem been our bikes are what u call an open loop system so the have no way of monitoring exhaust gases and adjusting fuel mixture accoordingly PC3 helps but have read a lot of bad reports on our bikes about poor internal electronics(vibration?). Again PC3 can only react to throttle position and any remapping accordingly as it is still operating from an open loop system
Wow that was a lot of techno babble. If u are gonna do it do it one mod at a time and see what u think 1 airbox mod 2 pipes 3 k+n and PC3 4dyno

Thanks Zedhead, I'll do the Air Box mod on it's own first. You weren't at Sherburn a couple of Fridays ago on a black zed with someone on a black Hornet where you? Ta, Hamish

Just been and visited Carbon Can Co and brought a pair of slip ons, and during a conversation with the owner he tells me the best thing you can do is the air box mod. He tells me that last week he dyno'ed a standard Z1000 with a K&N filter, Road Legal slip on cans, and the air box mod, and it made an extra 8bhp without leaning out, and without a PC3. I'll try and get the dyno sheet. Ta, H

Hamish, email me the chart would you? I have just done the mod and it's made a big difference to throttle response. I have a PC111 fitted, along with the Harris can and have really noticed a change since opening up the airbox. I have done the mod differently to the way shown in the link, if anyone wants pictures or to lend the tool I used just let me know. Cheers Hamish.

I can confirm the air box mod and filter as it was my ORANGE Z1 that Simon ran on the Dyno with the standard pipes before he fitted and mapped the PC111 and I fitted a pair of Campbells pipes in his shop. Regards Regan
