So I chopped my stock pipes, gutted them, the inner tubes, packing, cat all removed. Didn't realise quite how loud this would make them. I had them powder coated at work and love the way they look but really need to reduce the volume. I'm looking to keep the straight through look so any baffle will be put in the "link pipe" bit. Now my question is out the two baffle types which would do the better job? Obviously the tube type will wrapped in the wool packing and trimmed the end off to fit inside the tube. Or is the catalytic type gonna be quieter? I currently run two carbon Simmi Performance cans but I hate carbon(they were on it when I got the bike) so the chopped stock ones will hopefully be used instead if I can make them quiet enough.

Although youve now done it - you probably could have flogged the stockers and paid for an aftermarket set outright as the old gen1's are starting to go up in price....

I have a set of carbon SP cans that I'm having to run because of the cut downs being too loud. I hate the look of carbon and I'm looking for a pair of alloy or stainless cans ideally stubby that I can swap with someone. These sound awesome and are in mint condition, but I hate the look

Funnyyou hate Carbon, and i bought a pair of SP cans, thinking i had ordered the Carbon ones, only to find they were black satin, fitted them and all went well till i started her up in the early hours going to work, i must have woke every cat and dog for miles around, so i fitted the baffle wool, it cut the sound down maybe by 30 to 40% on tick over, but i was thinking on seeing if i can get longer inner baffles and wrap the wool around these, I did ask a question a while back as to why one side was getting hotter then the other but never got a reply.

Mine are actually quite quiet. The reason one is getting hotter at a guess is the baffle wool is either thicker or wrapped to tight in the hot one

If the rain stays off today i want to strip my front brake calipers and fit new seals, as the sound out of them is driving me nuts, they don't squeak they honk like a goose, as for a picture i will upload some later when i come home from work, thanks for the tip about the wool baffle packing, will have another look at that.

Today is gonna reasonably dry, showers the morrow(around the east mids anyway) . I'm going to try and wrap the delkivic baffles for my cut downs again, but I don't think it'll be enough. I reckon I'm going to have to just buy a new pair of silencers.
Has anyone tried the stubby eBay "akropovic" cans?

Although comfysofa has offered to help me,and for that I'm so greatfull. As he lives not to far from me,the lucky giit is at the TT,enjoy my friend enjoy... I'll contact you when I've got the parts... So Jelouse...
