I've just acquired a lovely 1982 Z1000 LTD.
I've noticed that at speed the revs seem higher than I was expecting, around 6000 revs at 70mph. Is this a feature of American imports? I used to ride a Z1R and I didn't notice the revs being so high. I was wondering if American bikes are geared for lower speeds than English models. This seems likely as the speedometer tops out at 85mph.

I used to have a Z1R also, if I remember correctly it did 3,000 at 50mph. yours does seem to be reving hight for the speed. What is the front and rear sprocket sizes?
Not sure about the USA vs European veriations.
you could chech Cradley Heath Kawasaki's website for parts against your bike as they do USA models in their parts diagrams also. Do you have the owners handbook? The sprocket sizes will be in that, a good place to start.
