Hi guys, I have a 2008 Z 1000 and am about to change over the original end cans for some Dan Motos. I noticed 2 small pipes connected into the original exhausts tonight. I expect these may be sensors or summit but I`m guessing Can anyone tell me what these are for and can I remove them without causing any damage when I fit the aftermarket cans ? Cheers in advance !

I do not have a service manual to hand for the 2008 model, but one will be the lambda oxygen sensor for the fuel injection feedback / regulation. The second for the back pressure regulation in the exhaust!? Best down load the service manual, link available in the technical section as a sticky

My understanding is that many disconnect / remove the exhaust value, but make sure it is in the open position . However I doubt you will do your fuel injection system any favours disconnecting the lambda sensor (but this is before the cans anyway !? ) Have you considered fitting a power commander after a change in exhaust? It is always best to get a custom map done to suit your bike. www.dynojet.co.ukMaybe some others who have experience with this can comment !?

OK Max, appreciate the feedback/advice. Not in any hurry to change the cans, so hopefully will get some others with experience of this type of system. I remember lambda from my schooldays. Twas a fine dance, heheh !
