Hi Buzz1967,
My understanding is that it is best to start with the original settings suggested by Kawasaki, as the forks I assume are from the ZX6-C1H (?!?) then the settings are as follows:
[glow=red,2,300]Rebound Damper Setting[/glow] 1 3/4 turns out from the fully clockwise position (Usable range: 0 to 2 turns out)
[glow=red,2,300]Compression Damper Setting[/glow] 3/4 turn out from the fully clockwise position (Usable range: 0 to 2 turns out)
[glow=red,2,300]Fork Spring Preload[/glow] Setting Adjuster protrusion is 17 mm. (Usable range: 10 - 25 mm)
Regarding the preload this is going to be less useful as you will need to set the sag of the forks, but this will give you an indication whether the weight of the bike is more than the kg/mm rating of the springs, you may need to consider changing the springs.
I have the service manuals for the 636 and the 08-z1000 and if you send me a PM with your address I will be happy to forward these to you if you do not have them.
