I fitted a twin set of HID headlights to my 2005 Kawasaki Z1000. Here is a how to should you wish to do the same
First disconnect the negative at the battery.
Then remove the fairing, to do this you need to remove the screen and take off the two bolts that are under this. Then there are two more bolts to be removed, which are at the rear lower end of the fairing by the fork clamp.
Referring to the picture below remove socket (1), the sockets 2 & 3, remember which is which,( but if you mix these up, the left one '3' has a red coloured wire - looking forward ).
From the picture below, I have removed the standard bulb and placed in the HID in the lower lens holder, at this point you will note it is loose and you will need to find the housing which comes in the kit
The picture below shows the HID bulb on the left, the housing in the centre as supplied, plus the standard bulb and housing.
Next chop off the 'fingers' as shown below to match the original.
Then cut the length of the tube as below.
You should now end up with the the HID + holder similar to the original as below.
You will have to trim the 'wings' of the holder as below.
Now fit in the new HID bulb and it will fit nice and snug.
A overview of the wiring is as follows, note the red and black wires plug into the original headlight socket (Lets call this point 4, I will refer to this later)
Next I cut the grommet, you could cut the original boot but I chose not to.
I then pulled the two wires as shown below out of the grommet
Using black gasket I filled the two holes as well as sealed the area around the cut grommet and refitted the original boot, to get a water tight seal
Referring back to 'point 4' connect the red and black leads into the headlight 'socket 2'. When connecting to ensure you compress the connector inside the socket to ensure a tight fit, if you do not you will have trouble later, so do not miss this step.
I then mounted the socket and the slim line ballast as shown
I mounted the second electric box on the side of the fork leg, to do this I used double sided tape and cable ties. This is out of the wind zone. I might tidy up the routing of the cable ties at another point. You may wish to squeeze this behind the fairing, but it was getting extremely tight in there at this point.
Then repeat the whole process for the second bulb.
Afterwards ... I tested on dip
and then two on high beam (EDIT, this is with two HID kits fitted, both are equal brightness, I did not take the picture looking head on at the bike)
and just to ensure that the positive and negatives are correct... you may wish to check this yourself;
Now you just need to set up the beam angle.
