I have bought 3 different c-spanners, while one fits nicely, I am unable to turn the locking rings (sigh). The best way to do it is to raise the bike so there is no weight on the suspension, then use a flat ended drift and a hammer. You need to be careful, but it is the only way I have been able to adjust the shock with it fitted to the bike.

You can get C spanners with a pivoting end that will fit most shock rings.....it will automatically fit anything that is in the smallest to largest range of the actual tool......google it or look in MCN/bike mags and so on. The other alternative would be to remove it if you don't want to smack it with non factory tools.....all should work though if you are careful F
