Just received my power commander and was looking at the various maps available on the Dynojet site. The map I see has the comments ''2003-2006 Kawasaki Z1000 European spec Laser X-treme open slip ons Stock or aftermarket air filter'' but does the ''open slips ons'' mean without the road legal inserts? I am guessing that it does. Therefore I am going to run the stock map provided by dynojet, as I have not opened up the air-box. I realise I need to have the bike dyno'd, but just wondered what maps others are using with the same configuration as mine?

I fitted my bike with laser X-tremes a year ago. The bike made about 121 bhp at the back wheel and was fairly sluggish on the throttle response. I had fitted a PC111 and had it set up by PDQ at maidenhead. the standard map over fuels the the bike and at the bottom end is a bit lean. with a dyno set up about £150 the bike is set up properly. The bike now makes about 124BHP at the back wheel with increased torque. The throttle responce is now better . More than happy to fax you the dyno run
Regards Del

To update my original post: my bike came out at 124bhp at the back wheel. Happy to share the custom map I have with anyone who has the same set up. It will be closer than the ones supplied by Dynojet with the power commander.

stevegixer, I would be interested to see how your bike comes out if you take it to be dyno'd, as K&N do not recommend doing the air box mod as it messes up the air flow... apposed to make it better. (so the information on the K&N filter says anyway )

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has done the airbox modification. I am very sceptical that it helps the bike overall. An American bike magazine did a feature on the z1000 and it showed a couple of HP gain at maximum revs, however did not show the over all power curve. As I stated in an earlier post, k&n say not to modify the airbox, I think that they know a thing or two about air flow ;D
