quick way would be to short the temp switch on the radiator out with a jumper this should bring the fan on. Mine usually cuts in at 102. I have mine at work today so i will check and let u know!! Couldn't get the connection off the switch and not enough time to remove rad cover to gain better access but on left side as you sit on bike at the top of the radiator is the fan switch/sensor if you remove the connection and short it out it should bring the fan on. (However please double check everything with the Manual to make sure it is ok before you do short it out)

Please, could you inform me what is the average engine tempreture while driving in city during trafic jams, on mine it goes up to 106, when outside tempretaure is about 30C. Fan is working, but decreasing the temperature is very slowly.
Thanks Dejan

You would have to check the manual to verify what temperature the fan cuts in, but as posted earlier 102C sounds right. The is no straight forward answer to your question as it depends on how much you are revving your engine and the ambient temperature, but in your case you say it is 30C. I have been to Spain and France when it has been similar temperatures to what you have experienced, but the temperature had always dropped fairly fast once the fan cut in. I would suggest you check the condition / cleanliness or your radiator... Are the fins all bent and distorted from a jet washer? Is the radiator clogged up with mud or insects? Next, when was the engine coolant last changed and was tap water used in the mix, as this would form deposites and reduce the heat transfer!? www.redzed.proboards.com/thread/846/engine-coolantSaying the above, I believe there is a thermostat which diverts the cooling water away from the radiator when cold, then through the radiator when it is warm, this may have failed and hence why your bike is reaching higher than normal temperatures... This can be tested by removing the thermostat and put it in some boiling water. If you download the manual ( link is in this forum) you should find the information how to do this there. What model and year is your z1000? Also kindly post an introduction about yourself in the appropriate section of the forum which is the polite thing to do before posting questions Hope the above helps and let us know how you get on, the others may have more useful suggestions and will chip in.

I am owner of Z1000 2007, black one, with 34,000KM, first owner. I ocasionally stay in LOndon, but i live in Macedonia, where I ride the bike. I can not recall how the temperature was when the bike was new, but last last year i realized that when the ambient tempretures are abowe 30C, only in city the bike is most on the fan. While riding in suberbs, even on the same ambient temperature, the temperature is 83-92 C, depending of riding speed.
So, i wanted to have an opinion from other owners, wheather this is normal or not. I am regalary changing the coolant, and I use from Motul, MOTOCOOL Factory Line, the red one. I chaked the termostat, it is opening from 57 and fully open at 62, as well as the radiator fins are not damaged, I an see trought radiator.

Hi Dejan, for the 2003-2006 model I never remember the temperature gauge ever getting to 119C, the 'HI' indication would come up before then. The temperature when riding is normally around 68C and 80-100C or upto the fan cut in point and which always dropped the temperature below the 'Hi' alarm, I have been to France, Spain and Portugal in the summer on the bike and been in traffic many times.
My model is not the same as yours, but I would suggest you take it to a dealer for advice unless anyone else on the forum can offer some guidance. Please let us know what you find out.
