I thought I'd do a new thread as the fitting was a little more involved.... Not hard but if I benefit you (whoever fits one) with what I found it'll be a faster job for you.... Assuming you've got it all apart (go and look for some of my other threads) as I've gone over the strip down before and its not hard. So ill just put the photos up and do a bit of an explanation.... Although some are dead simple so don't really warrant it. OK so, first simple one... These two are from the pump round to the left (as you're on the bike) This is a view from the left hand side.. This is the other longer hose from the pump. There's a side on... Right hand side. The other end of this goes in behind in the middle of the barrels. I found that putting the jubilee clip in on the barrel end pointing to the back of the bike hanging from the bottom of the pipe.... This means you can angle it up and then get a long screwdriver in from above to tighten it... Like this... I'll break the thread up a little and close this bit....

Ok, more pics... This is the small right hander behind the barrels.... The view you see is where I managed to just about get my hand through to push the pipes on.... So this could be difficult if youve got big hands... 3 of the pipes are mounted in here... Dead obvious this one.... The last 3 are the small bore pipes.... In summary 2 run from the top of rad cap.... One round to the rear of the barrels and one down to the back of the overflow tank in front of the swing arm. The third runs from the top of the overflow tank to long and down just in front of the front sprocket.... If you put a big wide ended screw driver down here you can put this against the back of the jubilee clip and tighten with another screwdriver from the righthand side of the engine.... The other end goes in here....the small pipe under the large bore pipe...

So... Continuing from the pic above that top front ward mounted small bore tube goes down to the back of the catch tank in front of the swing arm.... Heres the other end....ive not got a pic but you can tighten it from underneath the bike in front of the back wheel if you get me,...... I'll get a pic later.... This is the top breather from the catch tank, this runs down in front of the front sprocket.... Dead simple this one... This one can go either way around but it is slightly different one way so double check first.... A close up of the upper breather pipe from the catch tank. This view is from the right hand side of the engine....

So, there you have it... I think I've covered all of them.... Any questions just ask away. I used a couple of liter tubs of motorex coolant at a tenner a piece.... I had a left over one and I had a bit left also so it may be a little more.... Final pics....
Dunno if its placebo, the hoses or the fresh coolant but went out for a test ride and its running/cruising at 72 degrees whereas it used to be up to 80 on a hot day like today.... All in all brilliant. Thanks very much to Bruce at Racebikebitz for his help and putting up with me. They even sent them special delivery also.
This is the first kit samco have produced so if anyone else wants one they have to tool up to make more so the delivery is about 6 weeks or so....

Just to add that the pump will be coming off again in the near future to be powder coated.....why for the life of me they wouldn't coat something that pretty well gets the brunt of everything from the road I don't know....that's for another thread though....

Interested in exhaust headers dude. Did you just ring arrow direct? Do you have a number or a dude I can get in touch with? It's nearly time How much was it for the four in to two manifold? Need to start getting an idea of prices. Have you changed you radiator for a high flow? Sorry Bout all the questions dude just being nosey

I actually ordered the dual exit at the time on ebay from a place in Italy (that's where arrow are based). Now I ordered mine literally the day after I bought the bike and at the time I was really 50/50 because it seems that the done thing is to get dual exit pipes for the zed...its what ya do, kind of....so I ordered the dual exit with the brawlers and once fitted a. the brawlers even with the db killers in were stupid loud and b. once they were on I didn't really like them....so I went to B&C express and they ordered the single exit centre section which cost 170 quid....nice to know so if you damage and single part of your system you can get that bit, on its own from arrow! I sold the dual exit part to another lad on here who ironically ordered the wrong bit and got the single exit system!! had I have known that id have done him a straight swap!!
Rad is the same (didn't know you could get an aftermarket one) TBH mines runs nice and cool/the right temp so ive not looked....
They've actually gone up in price a bit - my system cost about 430 for the headers....heres the cheapest I can find...

That's not including the end can though....I don't really like arrow's end cans that much....mines got my old Austin can from the rsv4....id say go that way as theres much more variety from the rsv4 range....all you need is the end can from the rsv4 not the link pipe....

Just on a side note....After posting this its up to around 160 odd views (which is great) but no comments back, a couple which means that theres not very much input/feeback on what ive done/and generally what I do...just an observation...I guess I'm used to the Ducati forum where you cant really post anything without 20 odd plus people getting their oar in!!

I follow your threads & it was partly those that lead me to go for Z1000 in the end,although have like it when 1st out at NEC. Mate let me have ago on 2010 model when I knew I'd soon have the cash to go for one. For me hard to post when not doing updating, yet will be asking you some Q before to long. keep up the good posts though. 👍

Ahh - that's ok - I suppose I do feel that "this forum has a very low user base" but with 200 odd views on this thread people must be looking but not commenting. Its peoples input that makes a forum a place that you want to come back to...so I make a point of doing just that.
Just to agree with you I saw my first MT-10 last night in the flesh (Weston-Super-Mare bike night) Its got the R1 derived motor but the rest sucks arse big time....not a patch on the zed. 2 years on still happy with mine. Mine makes as much as all of the current crop but looks loads better and handles just as well....my theory on it is this...yes the tuono I think is the cream of the crop (best allrounder) but you cant change the looks as my mate says "it is what it is" the zed looks the best by far and the mods ive done only make it better with regards to performance and handling...
Its nice knowing that what ive posted has kind of influenced your choice....ironically that's the reason ive got the other 2 bikes that ive got....the hyper (Ducati forum) and af1 (RSV4 forum) are both brilliant - loads of helpful people on both plus ive made "actual" friends with people on both...I went to Weston bike night on the rsv4 last night and while great next time ill go on the zed....
I still stand by my statement that the zed has had a little bit of a bum rap in the reviewing stakes....once a bit of work has been done to them theyre fucking awesome - best sit up bike ive had yet.

Hi Rob - yep - definitely a step up from the stockers....yours is green so, apparently they'll make some of those first...so I'm guessing if you contact samco (RacebikeBitz) they'll have them in stock soon...mention you talked to me on the forum and they should give you 10% off. I wouldn't be surprised if theyre in stock by now!

Quite easy to fit....when you come over youll see how it goes in as the block off plate fitting is the same level of strip down to fit the hoses...
